Tozamile Mnapu is a Cape Town–based artist celebrated for his bold abstract graffiti and vibrant paintings. Born in Port Elizabeth and now based in Langa—Cape Town’s oldest township—Mnapu’s journey into art was shaped by resilience and community spirit. After working various jobs, from selling vegetables to repairing shoes, a 2016 encounter with Malawian street artists inspired him to pursue painting professionally. 

Since then, Mnapu has become a recognizable presence in Langa, with his colorful murals transforming public spaces and his art featured both in local galleries and on township walls. Through his company, he hosts walking tours and art workshops for children, using creativity as a bridge to uplift, educate, and inspire. Mnapu’s abstract works are rich in graffiti energy, often incorporating elements of cubism and fauvism. They reflect his personal story, Langa’s vibrant life, and a broader message of positivity and transformation. 

Whether on canvas or concrete, his art speaks a universal language of hope, rooted in community and cultural pride—offering an intimate window into one of South Africa’s most dynamic creative voices.
