Marthe Ngandu

Born on June 5, 1979, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Marthe Ngandu is a self-taught artist whose work powerfully celebrates African identity, womanhood, and joy. Raised in a culturally rich family environment, Ngandu’s early exposure to art sparked a passion that endured beyond her initial studies in finance and years spent in customer care. Ultimately, she returned to her creative roots, developing a distinctive visual language that merges painting with textiles.

Her bold, saturated brushwork and vivid palettes exude emotional energy, while her incorporation of Ankara fabric—rich in symbolism—adds depth and texture.
